Ovation is proud to offer four new Limited Edition models – “The Demented Series” - designed by renowned guitarist DJ Ashba.
DJ, a longtime Ovation endorsee, is not only an amazingly talented guitarist/songwriter/ producer but also an equally gifted graphic designer doing creative work for companies like Virgin Entertainment and Royal Underground. Ovation’s R&D Team and DJ worked together to fine tune every aspect of each model. As a result, not only do these guitars stand apart from an artistic perspective, they also raise the bar for what electric players will come to expect out of their acoustics.
DJ is best known as co-founder of the hard rock bands Sixx AM and Beautiful Creatures. He co-wrote and co-produced Sixx AM's "Heroin Diaries" soundtrack, featuring the insanely popular hit, "Life Is Beautiful." In addition, DJ co-wrote and co-produced Motley Crue's Grammy nominated 2008 release, "Saints of Los Angeles". He has also collaborated with Neil Diamond, Drowning Pool, Marion Raven and Aimee Allen, among many other well respected and talented musicians.
In addition to his musical talents DJ is an equally gifted graphic designer. His creative agency, Ashba Media, has clients including Virgin Entertainment, Royal Underground, Eleven Seven Music and Sony Playstation among others.

"I have been playing Ovation guitars for more than 20 years. When I was given the opportunity to design my own signature instrument for Ovation, I took the challenge very seriously. My goal was to design an amazing guitar from head to toe - featuring my personal graphics along with the best features from all the different Ovations that I've played crammed into one guitar. One guitar quickly turned into four and The Demented Collection was born. DJA34-AL - "The inspiration for the Ashbaland model comes from an animated movie that I wrote and have been working on with the Happy Madison team. I began the design by sketching out concepts with Darcy Watt and the Ashba Media crew. The graphics are based off of an embryo that morphs into a cartoon version of me wearing my signature stitched top hat, missing my heart, set in front of a beautiful spooky moon. The color combination of yellow, purples and blacks on this guitar are simply breathtaking." - DJ Ashba
Features include a mid-depth Roundback body for superior balance at any note on the fretboard, scalloped bracing to maximize top vibration, and Ovation’s Slimline pickup with individual sensors for each string. All this adds up to a guitar that pumps out tremendous energy both acoustically and plugged-in.
