The Oscar Schmidt Company was founded in 1871 and incorporated in 1911. By the early 1900s, the company had five factories in Europe and a factory on Ferry Street in Jersey City. They made all kinds of stringed instruments, guitars, banjos, mandolins, ukuleles, zithers, and Autoharps.

Manufactured on the island of Java, these instruments offer a mozaic rope rosette and top binding, a 19 fret flame nyatoh neck with an ebony headstock and bridge. The pearl logo and fingerboard, along with the pearl snowflake inlay complement the instrument design. The models come with deluxe Grover GH305 tuners with ebonite buttons, NuBone nut and saddle and Aquila strings. Deluxe hard shell case included.
